DOING THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY
RETAIL (RE)CONSIDERED
When it comes to eyewear, the problem is the in-store experience usually involves sifting through endless rows of generic glasses stacked on racks of shelves. The store itself and the journey for customers hasn't been considered. It’s usually monotonous and above anything else, it makes buying glasses feel like a chore, something to tick off the list. Customers are sold to, rather than looked after.
For our first store, we wanted to create a space that our community could enjoy. Our customers can come and try on a curated selection of our eyewear, they can learn about us, how we make our products and where they have come from. They can leave knowing that they can always come back and be cared for.
We wanted to create a space where our community could thrive, not just buy glasses.
We reconsider everything in order to reduce our impact on the world around us. We design, craft and repair eyewear with a circular approach. We revisit what exists and redesign with the long-term impact of our decisions always front of mind. Our materials and processes are carefully considered, nothing is wasted.
We repair eyewear, redesign broken systems, recycle and reuse everything we can, rewrite the rules, rethink our processes, retell inspiring stories, revisit our assumptions and in doing so, we reimagine the future.

MATERIAL SPOTLIGHT
LEAVING NO TRACE
In an age of uncertainty, nothing is guaranteed. With this in mind, wedesigned our store in such a way that if we were to move, we will leave no trace.
We can re-use everything in our current store in our next location, disassemblefor recycling, or return some of the materials to the ground as nourishment.

GROWTH THROUGH COLLABORATION
Collaboration for us is all about bringing together different perspectives and learning from one another through viewing challenges from a different angle and combining past experience with new insight.
This is exactly what we had in mind when designing our first store and it's what our store will now be home to. We're going to be holding a series of workshops at our 21 Chiltern St. store, from candle pouring to mycelium growing.

We believe you have a right to repairs. So if we can repair your MONC glasses, we will. In fact, our frames are designed to last and built to be repaired. When you purchase from us, we have a duty of care for your frames from the moment you take them home, throughout their lifetime.
